Privacy policy
NoteTemplate — have counsel review before launch.
The short version
We collect as little as we can. Our analytics use no cookies and no third‑party trackers. What you type into a form or the self‑check is stored on our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and read only by Wescot. Booking runs through Calendly, under its own privacy policy. We never sell your information.
Who we are
Wescot Advisors (“Wescot,” “we,” “us”) is a fractional CFO and COO practice founded by Marcie Teenor, CPA. This policy covers wescotadvisors.com, including the self‑check, our forms, the booking page and the client portal. You can reach us through the contact page.
When you browse the site
We use cookieless, first‑party analytics to count page views and understand how the site is used. For each visit we record the page, the referring website, your device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) and your country. We don’t use analytics cookies, advertising pixels or third‑party trackers, and we don’t track you across other websites.
We don’t store your IP address. To protect our forms from abuse, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of it with each form you send, for up to 24 hours, then delete it. The scrambling changes every day, so it can’t be used to follow you from one day to the next.
Information kept in your browser
While you take the self‑check, your answers so far are kept in your browser’s session storage, so a page refresh doesn’t lose them. They’re cleared when you close the tab.
When you first arrive, we may keep a small record in your browser’s local storage of how you found us, such as a campaign tag or a referral partner’s link, for up to 90 days. It’s sent with any form or self‑check you complete so we know which referral partner to thank. It isn’t shared with anyone else.
We also keep a random visit number in session storage, so we can count visits without cookies. It’s cleared when you close the tab.
The self‑check
When you finish the self‑check, we store your answers, your score, the recommendations shown to you and any optional context you choose to give, like revenue band or industry. We don’t ask for your name or email unless you choose to send your results to Marcie. We use the answers to improve the self‑check and, if you book a call, so Marcie can prepare.
Forms you send us
When you use our contact form, request a time, ask Marcie to follow up on your self‑check, or refer a client, we store what you type: usually a name, email, phone number, company and message. We use it to reply to you and to keep a record of our conversation.
The site doesn’t send automated or marketing email. Marcie replies personally from her own email address.
Where your information is stored
Our website, forms, database and file storage run on Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Form and self‑check information is stored in Cloudflare and is accessible only to Wescot through a login protected by Cloudflare Access.
Booking a call
Our booking calendar is provided by Calendly and embedded on our booking page. When you book, the details you enter go to Calendly and are handled under Calendly’s privacy policy (calendly.com/privacy). Calendly may set its own cookies when its calendar loads. Calendly sends us your booking details and answers so Marcie can prepare, and we store them with the rest of our records.
If you book from your self‑check results, we pass your revenue band, industry and biggest worry to the calendar so you don’t have to type them twice, along with a reference that links your booking to your results.
If someone referred you
A referral partner, such as your banker or accountant, may give us your name and contact details. We ask partners to tell us whether you know about the referral, and we use your details only to reach out to you about it.
The client portal
The client portal is for Wescot clients only and is secured with Cloudflare Access. To sign in, you enter your email address and receive a one‑time code. Cloudflare sets a cookie that keeps you signed in for your session. Documents and reports in the portal are stored in Cloudflare and are available only to the people at your company you’ve authorized, and to Wescot. Your engagement letter also governs how we handle client information.
How we use information
- To reply to you and arrange calls
- To prepare for and deliver work you’ve engaged us for
- To understand how the site is used and improve it
- To credit the referral partner who introduced you
- To keep our records and meet our legal and professional obligations
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers who run parts of our business for us: Cloudflare (hosting, storage and sign‑in), Calendly (booking) and, for clients, Intuit QuickBooks Online (invoicing)
- A referral partner, only with your permission
- Anyone we’re required to share it with by law or professional rules
As a CPA, Marcie follows professional confidentiality rules. We won’t name you as a client without your written permission.
How long we keep it
We keep anonymous self‑check results for 24 months, then delete or combine them into totals that can’t identify anyone. We keep contact details from forms until you ask us to delete them, or for 24 months after our last contact if you don’t become a client. Client records are kept as your engagement letter and professional rules require.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law.
Security
The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to stored information is limited to Wescot and protected by Cloudflare Access sign‑in. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Children
This site is for business owners and isn’t directed to anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll say so on this page.
